Lukash plane waves, revisited

چکیده
The Lukash metric is a homogeneous gravitational wave which at late times approximates the behaviour of generic class spatially homogenous cosmological models with monotonically decreasing energy density. transcription from Brinkmann to Baldwin-Jeffery-Rosen (BJR) Bianchi coordinates presented and relation Sturm-Liouville equation explained. 6-parameter isometry group derived. In VII range parameters we have two BJR transciptions. However using either them induces mere relabeling geodesics isometries. Following pioneering work Siklos, provide self-contained account geometry global structure spacetime. latter contains Killing horizon future spacetime resembles an anisotropic version Milne cosmology past it resemble Rindler wedge.

Structure and stability of the Lukash plane-wave spacetime
We study the vacuum, plane-wave Bianchi V IIh spacetimes described by the Lukash metric. By combining covariant with orthonormal frame techniques, we describe these models in terms of their irreducible kinematical and geometrical quantities. This covariant description is used to study analytically the response of the Lukash spacetime to linear perturbations. We find that the stability of the va...
متن کاملInternal waves revisited
We describe a new laboratory technique that has been developed to examine the structure and amplitude of internal waves. As well as being relatively inexpensive to set up, the technique is sensitive to small density fluctuations: heat rising from a hand can easily be seen. If the internal wave field is uniform across the span of the tank, then the density gradient field can be measured non-intr...
متن کاملReflection and Transmission of Plane Waves at Micropolar Piezothermoelastic Solids
The present investigation analysis a problem of reflection and transmission at an interface of two micropolar orthotropic piezothermoelastic media. The basic equations and constitutive relations for micropolar orthotropic piezothermoelastic media for G-L theory are derived. The expressions for amplitude ratios corresponding to reflected and transmitted waves are derived analytically. The eff...
متن کاملPlane-polarized helicon waves
By suitably adding rightand left-hand circularly polarized helicon waves in a cylinder, it is possible, in principle, to form linearly polarized modes, contrary to the notion that whistler waves must be circularly polarized. The plane-polarized component is accompanied by a left-hand circularly polarized component which vanishes on axis but becomes important at large radii. The field lines of t...
متن کاملPrimal cutting plane algorithms revisited
Dual fractional cutting plane algorithms, in which cutting planes are used to iteratively tighten a linear relaxation of an integer program, are well-known and form the basis of the highly successful branch-and-cut method. It is rather less well-known that various primal cutting plane algorithms were developed in the 1960s, for example by Young. In a primal algorithm, the main role of the cutti...
